The 50 best bakeries in Seoul (2024)

The cafe features an Hanok-inspired interior, giving it a feel of nostalgia for those who visit. The menu focuses on traditional Korean bakery items, such as buns and pastries. Additionally, the cafe serves drinks and desserts.

Great place for bakery and coffee. Their bakery is really awesome and the soy latte is superb and out of the world. The balance between the milk and coffee were remarkable. Their staff are friendly and the place has a lot of seats for eat in. Definitely recommend this place if you are in Seoul and wants some great bakery. 👍

Very beautiful cafe! Love the interior and the space is so unique and cozy. The fresh baked good smells amazing! And the taste amazing delicious! The coffee was so good, we came twice to cafe onion because it was so beautiful and the our experience was amazing! The staff were extremely friendly and nice

One of the most famous cafe in Seoul in a traditional hanok. If you find a line at the entrance be aware that it is just to sit, and as it’s self service you might need to wait also to get your order as there is no service. A lot of beautiful food, but tea selection is quite poor. Take your order, take off your shoes and enjoy the experience, it’s so relaxing

What a little gem of a place. Hidden inside the main street by an unassuming traditional door way, was a little courtyard. On the right was the Onion eatery. Some savory but mostly sweet dishes to be accompanied by tea or soft drinks. Pub just outside on the right 👍. So cool and the locals that we met after this visit said that it was the place to go to and we were lucky to have fallen into it. Must go.

One of the most famous cafe in seoul. Cafe Onion is well know for their freshly baked bakery, and also drinks. This place offers huge menu of bakery and variety type of bread menu. You can choose between bread for meal or just enjoy it for dessert. The huge range of pastry menu from croissant, loaf of bread, bread with variety toppings and sweet menu. The food here is astonishing tasty and very good looking, with variety of the bread you pick, it also gave different taste of it. The quality of food is top, well-baked and prepared for the food. Drinks also really nice, good coffee and other menu is enjoyable.

Got there right before 8am (an hr after opening) and there were already a few people queueing & waiting for more pastries to be sent out. Definitely worth going early to experience without the rush of people. The croissant with fig was deliciously buttery and fruit was on point. The beverage i ordered was too sweet though - think it was one of their specialties with dill.

Lovely place for breakfast. If you want to bypass the line, you can go straight to buying your pastries/ordering drinks and sit at one of the tables in the outside courtyard. The line is only for people who want a table inside. Certain drinks are only at certain Onion locations, and if you go around town and collect stamps at each of the locations, you get a gift (sorry I don't know what the gift is). See posted pics of which drinks are at each location.

the unmissable place of the moment! It’s so pretty and so pleasant! there is a lot of choice in food and hot/cold drinks! the only downside is that there is always a wait, so a bit of a wait.. I would not recommend going there very early in the morning, there is very little choice in the food. I would say that we should go there from 9 a.m.I go there every trip to Seoul! Sometimes twice a day! I love it so much <3 !!

Wow I didn't know this place was so crowded! Is it supposed to be one of the most trending cafes in town? The queue to get in was so long there's literally queue everywhere.Waited for quite some time in the queue before I was given a table. So when I got to the table I quickly dropped something to reserve my seat so someone would know I was here. Next had to get to the other hanok where you see a variety of pastries to choose from. There you see another long and so moving queue. After finishing selecting the pastries you queue in the line for payment and that is where you have a lot of time to make decisions again whether to remove or add more to the tray. So after making the payment you have to wait and queue again, where the staff will either prepare the drinks or they will transfer the items to a brand new tray for you.I didn't really check my watch but it was indeed long enough to keep me hungry and eat immediately when I got back to the table. There are a few recommended pastries but the main one has to be the Pandoro which is a plain pastry with a thick layer of icing sugar. I was a bit worried but thank god it wasn't too sweet.Managed to takeaway a few and was satisfied it tasted well even after the next day.A nice place to chill though, so expect a bit of waiting time.

A nice cafe hidden in an authentic Korea house. Very special place good for photo and also hang out with friends. Pastries and bread taste good and good coffee. Bear in mind the queue is long and need some patience if you want to sit inside the building. However you can go direct to pick your pastries and order coffee inside if you prepare to sit outside or take away. The wait time is not long.

Creative and fun space. Pastries okay.I really enjoyed my experience. The cafe is inside a renovated hanok and has a wide variety of really interesting pastries. The service was prompt and friendly. The ambiance was kind of loud and tourist-heavy.The pastries look beautiful but the taste was slightly underwhelming. Everything we tried was pretty one-dimensional. We could have just selected the wrong ones.Overall, a cute cafe with a lovely space.

Charming cafe with delicious pastries but LONG wait.Traditional hanok house with lots of indoor and outdoor seating. We were in the express line for outdoor seating/takeout but the wait was still 1 hour. Drinks took 15 minutes due to short staffing. Restrooms/plumbing reflect the age of the house. Pastries were the best I’ve ever had but I wouldn’t return simply because of the line. Definitely recommend to try once though!

Very hard to get a table at this place, although not filled as some tables are empty. Believe maybe there is not enough staff to be able to service so getting a seat can be slow. The bakes are worth it and so are the drinks. Great variety. The garlic cream cheese bun, is a bit like cheesecake inside which was surprising. Then the pan au pistachio was perfect, flaky and not too sweet. Better to get takeout and sit outside if you don't mind the cold. They refill periodically. So if you see something out of stock it's worth waiting a bit.

Coffee is nice ,the environment is Soo relaxing ,this place is so good to chill with your loved one peacefully. The things that they really need to work on is the queue system for ordering it's too long when there are multiple people .In cold weather's all the crossiants or other bakery things get cold .They have no option to warm it .Other than this a good place to visit.

This cafe was great. There were variety of menu, both bakery and drinks. The system for line was good as separation for the table inside and outside/takeaway. However, the line was very long and you had to select the option of your table, outside/takeaway was shorter and faster than the option for table inside. I recommended to come early, maybe about 15-30 minutes before the cafe opened. The bakery and pastry were very delicious. You could feel the taste and flavor of good butter with other ingredients. The drinks were good also. The cafe decoration was amazing as the old house. There were many corners for taking picture. I would get back to this place for my next visit.

Jetnapa T — Google review

A must-visit every time I visit. The only downside is that they are way too popular now so getting a seat/table is tough! Quality of bakes and vibes is still up there though.

Trendy cafe near Ankuk subway station (exit no.3). Very popular among tourists with long queue waiting in front of the shop before opening time. Spent almost 1 hour in queue before getting a table. All pastries & bakeries are so delicious with very nice atmosphere of old style Korean house.

so busy place that so hard to find seat. i read some reviews that it is over rated. i think so. all the visitors just want to take lot of photos. can't enjoy without having to avoid be in people photos. they like to gather at the doors and entrance. make it so hard for people who just want a drink to buy drink.the food looks great and have lot of choice. i think it is okay only.

The outer line is for sitting indoors. If you just want to get takeout and sit in one of the outdoor tables, go to the inner line.Waited an hour in the takeout line on a Sunday afternoon. Tried 5 different breads which were all somewhat stale and tasted very very mediocre. We didn’t finish either of the drinks we got. Everything was expensive, in the range of 6-8000 KRW per item. We spent more here than on lunch. The bathroom is disgusting, and not what I expected of Korea at all. There are mops hanging on the wall outside the bathroom in visible view. The sink didn’t drain, so there was literally an inch of water pooled in the sink. And there were wet wads of hair on the ground.Do not get the hype or the rating here at all.

What's confusing about waiting in line for the Onion Cafe is that you can bypass the long line by going straight to the cafe and getting in line to pick out pastries and drinks and eat at the outdoor tables or take the food to-go. We got stuck in the long line, not realizing that it was for inside seating. However, once you even get the inside seating, you have to wait in line again for the food/drinks. They were very "instagrammable" but the taste was just fine. I would rate it prettier in looks, but taste is more like a 3.5.

Pairinmas B — Google review

We got there at around 8:30am and there was no line to get in. There was a 10 minute wait in line to pay for the goods which I found confusing as to why it took so long (even if customers were ordering coffee). There are normal tables with chairs and then also more traditional seating which meant took off your shoes and sat on the mat. By the time we left, the line was insane.Definitely looked prettier than it tasted.

We came here for the 🥐 🥮 🍰and ambient. The pastry was disappointing (more about it below), and the ambient did not disappoint. It is a very beautiful but also cold traditional house. Make sure to dress well in the cold months.About the pastry ➡️ We visited the place at 5:30 PM and there were not a lot of pastry options left (most of the trays were empty). We selected 2 random ones (croissant and sweet pumpkin castekka). The taste & texture were very basic and not worth the price, there was no pumpkin taste in a pumpkin-tasting dessert. 🤷‍♀️About the queues ➡️ Queues were shorter, but it was still more than 30 min of waiting to get the drinks. I did like the experience, but would not visit again.

Nice bakery with good coffee. The bakery is really amazing and fresh and tasty.Alot of people so you will have to queue but overall worth it.You have two seating area on ground traditional seating and tables both are amazing.Highly recommended

If you are looking for a cozy and comfortable place to enjoy some coffee and pastries, look no further than Onion Cafe. This charming cafe is located in a refurbished old wooden compound house, which gives it a unique and rustic vibe. The cafe offers a wide variety of pastries. You will have a hard time choosing just one, as they all look and taste amazing. The coffee is also excellent, with a rich aroma and flavor that will satisfy your caffeine cravings. Whether you want to relax, work, or chat with friends, Onion Cafe is the perfect spot for you. Don’t miss it when you are in the area!

We came for light snacks at 730 pm and no queing anymore. Pretty Hanok Style Cafe, spacious space and a lot of variations of breads, pastries and refreshing drinks.Firstly find the place and order! If you can’t finish your breads, they have prepared a plastic for us to take away!Because we always can’t resist to buy more than our capacity 😅It is popular with locals too🥹

Herlina C — Google review

Bread is nice - take the pizza and pistachio options. Thank me later for saving your time and energy. Beware that if you are still standing outside in a queue, you need at least 45 min to pick up your order. There is another queue inside - which no one tells you. So don't be a fool.

This was such a sweet cafe. I went when it was raining so I didn’t have to experience much of a queue and there were plenty of seats to choose from. The aesthetic of the cafe was great and I really loved the cozy wooden feel of it.And the pastries I chose were phenomenal. I chose a savory pollack avocado roll, which was actually savory! A lot of foods in Korea are very sweet when they could greatly benefit from not being so sweet, and this was one of them. It was just great, I loved the pollack because it was thinly spread across a roll and paired with mayo and avocado for moisture across the baguette. The baguette it was on was great too because it wasn’t too hard or too sharp to eat!And I also chose a strawberry croissant, which was really good too. It seemed more like a little girl’s dream food which is why I chose the whimsical looking bright pink strawberry decorated croissant. It was very princessy, and just tasted great. Minus the glaze, which could easily be pulled off, it wasn’t too sweet and I really enjoyed it.They have a really good cacao tea latte. I will think of this tea for years to come, as it was delicious and not too sweet. So good! And perfect temperature so I could drink it almost immediately. There were nice herbal notes too and the chocolate wasn’t overpowering. Get this! The only thing that would be an issue is that the space seems like it would be hard for the disabled to enter. It’s a lot of narrow spaces, tight turns, and randomly located steps. The accessibility is low, but the employees were really kind so I think that they would be able to assist you in getting something to eat and seating you somewhere.Overall, a great spot! Trendy but actually worth the hype!

cafes in Seoul are just on another level, and this cafe is an iconic representative of Seoul cafes. The cafe is large with different types of seating and a huge spread of pastries. You can’t rly go wrong with any pastry as almost all of them taste good. The wait is pretty long though! So be prepared to wait around 1hr in total in the morning.. Would highly recommend to go during off peak timings like 3-4pm..

Everything was outstanding 👏 The pastries/cakes and coffee were amazing. I had this croissant with whipping cream and strawberry and blueberries jam, absolutely 10 out of 10! The service was great, especially when they changed your shoe position with the head of the shoe faces outside. It was so thoughtful and convenient ❤️ There was a little bit of a wait but it was so worth it 👌

I visited this popular Hanok-style interior cafe around 5pm and found a long queue, waiting for 20 minutes before being seated. While there was no queue for outside seating, the hot weather made it less appealing. Nonetheless, I made the most of my wait by purchasing four pastries: Matcha Scones, Mocha pastry, the famous Pandoro, and a Berry croissant and ordered Iced vanilla latte. I enjoyed some pastries in the restaurant and took the rest to go, ensuring a tasty experience both indoors and out.

This cafe was STUNNING! It's inside a traditional Hanok style house. But they renovated it into a cafe with beautiful glass walls. The pastries are beautiful and delicious. They have a line and they seat you. Then you get in line for pastries. So that way everyone has some where to eat and sit comfortably. There is table seating and floor seating on tatami. The garlic scallion bagel was my favorite.
