What's a better option? I don't want to have to charge every day. Does anyone have recommendations for a watch/tracker that's sub $300 and has a battery life of at least a week?

@CacheHunter: None probably last a week, smart watch wise. My Ticwatch gets 3 days of smart watch and then switches to bring a dumb watch which can last a month apparently.

@CacheHunter: I’ll always recommend the Amazfit Bip. I’ve had the original for 5+ years and the battery still lasts about a week. New it was lasting multiple weeks. I only really use it to check notifications and monitor my step count so YMMV if you’re heavily using GPS or HR monitoring for example.
I’ve just had to replace the band a couple of times. I tore the face off it when I pulled up my sleeve to check it one time. Luckily the ribbon cable was intact so I just plugged it back in and glued the face back down. That was like 2 years ago now.

That would be my suggestion.
9 day battery life, or 24 hrs (total) GPS use.
Also, compatible with GadgetBridge so you don't need closed source data harvesting apps to make the typical functions work with your phone.

@MasterScythe: The CMF Watch Pro 2 still has issues with firmware like the previous model. It frequently disconnects from whatever phone it is connect to, so you will miss notifications and calls.

The old one never disconnected once on GadgetBridge for me.
Was this an 'official app' problem only?If so, just some guesswork, but it might be Doze settings for the app.
Shame to hear some had issues though; good product for the most part :(

@ldd-mn: Good news is that outside of initial customisation, the official app doesn't add much that GB doesn't, so if that was the case, simple enough to switch app (shouldn't have to of course, thats silly, but an easy workaround).

I have one, and thats not the issue for me.
I woudlnt recommend buying as they want you to pay for a fitibit account to access features that should be free.
Ive had several smart watches and use this, but I really wouldn't miss if it it was gone.

Been using mine for a year and no issues. With always on screen turned off I put it on charge after I wake up, and put it on after my shower and getting dressed and it lasts me until the next morning.
The os is quick and have had no issues.

I ha a garret hr gen 5 and love the design, looks more like a traditional watch. But the pixel watch is way smoother and faster.

I don't find it slow for most use. It's quick to navigate around, read notifications and use the interface. The only time I notice a delay is when I turn on sports tracking, it takes a second to start.

Gosh so much hate for this watch!
Been super with it over the past few months, no complaints whatsoever. Can get 2 days battery life pretty easy, and Google pay is awesome.

That said, Garmin is where I'll be getting my watch from nowadays. Excellent watch with all the features I'd need and my gosh the battery life…

I am using it since last JB deal. Battery drain was too much while setting up the watch, but eventually it got stable and on par with Apple watch series 7. UI is smooth and you won't feel any lag for people thinking about older chipset. Heart rate measurement is generally accurate but it sometimes records lower heart rate. Best part is Google home app on watch and worst part is mediocre vibrations.

Out of the box this was an awful watch. Firmware and software updates and having the screen off etc has made this watch amazing. Now battery life is 1-2 days. Really handy the daily tracking and ECG just by keeping it on your wrist. The default band had some weird nickel or something in it though. The metal caused some pretty wild allergic reactions for me. Fortunately they replaced it with another band under warranty and now it's sweet.Speaker is pretty crappy for voice calls if there is any noise otherwise I use this as my daily and very happy.

Thanks, this makes a lot of sense. I got my Pixel Watch recently and was absolutely puzzled about all the battery life complaints, as mine usually ends the day at 40% with always-on display, continuous HR and about an hour of GPS on workouts. So its comfortably a charge-a-day watch.
Then again I got mine for a shade cheaper than this. It's not the latest and greatest by a long shot, but there aren't any other full-fat Wear OS watches for <$200 (AFAIK) and even if it's slower than others, it seems plenty fast enough to do the very few things a smartwatch does.

Totally agree. It is so much better than when it first came out. I work with tech all day and some of the integrations were extremely unintuitive, barely worked it out. Now that it's set it, I love it. Monitoring resting hr over time with the Fitbit app and has a ECG is a great idea, the fact it tells the time is a bonus. Screen is generally off.

The pixel watch 2 often gets down to $260 or so, and it's only going to go lower once the pixel watch 3 is released. You'd be mad to get the gen1 at this price just prior to the pixel watch 3 getting released.

I would not buy this. I have a pixel 2 and it's good. Only annoying thing is it does not notify you if the watch is charging on android. But there is an app for it

Dont listen to all these people that say its "slow" and using an "old chip". The watch isnt slow, but compared to newer models there may be an unnoticeable difference in some things but for a general user of a watch its not slow at all.
